Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Insurance Verification Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, policies, and financial responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance information accurately by contacting insurance providers and reviewing electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Obtain prior authorization for medical procedures and services, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and submitted timely
- Review and interpret health insurance policies, including managed care plans, to determine coverage eligibility
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve insurance-related issues promptly and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies during all verification processes
- Communicate any issues to patient's and other staff in a courteous and professional manner
Requirements
- Proven experience in healthcare insurance verification roles
- Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care plans, and insurance prior authorization procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
- Ability to work efficiently with a team as well as independently
