We are seeking a skilled and motivated Metal Fabricator to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw metal materials into precise, high-quality components and assemblies that meet strict engineering specifications. Your expertise in various welding techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical fabrication will be essential in delivering exceptional results on construction sites and within our fabrication shop. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse metal materials, utilize advanced measuring instruments, and contribute to large-scale projects that demand precision and craftsmanship.
Duties
- Interpret detailed mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine fabrication requirements and assembly procedures.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal components using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment.
- Perform welding operations including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes.
- Able to take and mark accurate measurements to ensure accurate dimensions and tolerances.
- Operate machinery safely on construction sites or within fabrication shop.
- Assemble fabricated parts into larger structures following safety protocols and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety regulations at all times.
Helpful skills
- Construction site experience with a strong understanding of safety protocols and site logistics.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting technical drawings accurately.
- Skilled in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding with knowledge of AWS standards.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise fabrication work.
- Experience working with sheet metal fabrication and understanding of ASME codes & standards.
- Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication processes, machining, plasma cutting, assembly, and metal materials.
- Familiarity with construction experience involving handling of heavy materials.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures applicable to fabrication shops and construction sites.
