Role: Network Technician

Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN gateways to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide technical support for network issues related to LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), wireless connectivity, and internet access.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software problems on desktops, laptops, servers, and network devices using tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or BMC Remedy.
- Manage Active Directory accounts for user access control, password resets, and group policy updates to maintain security standards.
- Monitor network performance using diagnostic tools; identify and resolve bottlenecks or outages swiftly.
- Support system administration tasks including Windows Server administration, operating systems support (Windows and macOS), and Linux environments.
- Assist with hardware maintenance and upgrades; perform routine checks on computer hardware components to prevent failures.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement firewall rules, VPN configurations, and other security measures protecting our IT infrastructure.
- Document all troubleshooting steps, system changes, and incident reports clearly in help desk systems like Jira or ServiceNow for future reference.
- Communicate effectively with end-users by providing clear guidance on technical issues while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in technical support roles with a focus on computer networking and system administration.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows (supporting Windows Server environments), macOS, Linux distributions.
- Hands-on experience with hardware maintenance of computers and networking equipment.
- Familiarity with IT support tools such as BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, Jira for incident tracking and management.
- Proficiency in managing Active Directory environments for user account management and permissions control.
- Understanding of network protocols including LAN/WAN architecture, TCP/IP, VPNs, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues efficiently while maintaining a positive customer service approach.
