LEAD TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
Must be able to do the following:
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
Plan lesson plans, the daily schedule, methods for recording attendance, and all other daily duties of the teacher. Implement activities for children between the ages of 3-6 years, consistent with the curriculum guide, resources and training provided; Follow basic principles of early childhood development. Establish and maintain effective, working relationships with children, parents, staff, and program specialists. Supervise the assistant teacher. Maintain a safe, clean, learning environment and in assuring the well being and safety of children in care. Exhibit a genuine nurturing, caring attitude to all children. Maintain a positive, calm attitude and a soft voice, and encourage this attitude and voice in others working in the classroom. Implement the developmental assessment for each child to determine the child's strengths and areas in which each child may need help. Plan with the assistant teacher in preparing materials and supplies in advance for activities. Maintain confidential child classroom folders, by collecting monthly samples of children's work. Maintain a confidential assessment binder, consisting of developmental assessments, individual goals, and observations of progress toward meeting goals. Maintain discipline and supervision of children during all activities.
Nature of Work
Hours of work and schedule are determined on an annual basis, based upon program needs and availability.
Work involves meeting the educational, emotional, social, health, nutritional, and psychological needs of children.
Work with the assistant teacher to facilitate activities for all children both indoors and outdoors.
The teacher is supervised by the secondary level by the center director. The teacher will receive training from the center director, and the program specialist.
Attend training opportunities provided by the agencies as recommended, professional Development, etc.
Education requirements: Must have a Bachelor or Master Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,070.00 - $68,000.00 per year
