Responsibilities:
- Assist welders in building and fabricating metal structures
- Use hoists, wrenches, and hammers to lift, move, and clamp work materials into position
- Oversee the scheduled maintenance of welding and fitting equipment to ensure they are operational
- Transport workpieces to by manual means or using forklift
- Prepare objects for crane movement by attaching grappling equipment such as cables and pulleys
- Clean workpieces using chemical solutions to remove impurities such as slag, rust, and grease
- Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment for efficient work operations
- Wear appropriate protective clothing in compliance with safety protocols
- Perform preventative maintenance of welding equipment by lubricating and fixing worn parts
- Maintain good knowledge of welding techniques and processes
- Rig and move materials to work areas
- Follow codes and standards for welding processes
- Perform stick welding as needed
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a welder helper or in a similar role is preferred
- Familiarity with welding processes and techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Knowledge of codes and standards for welding
- Proficiency in stick welding is desired
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
