Social Media Content Creator - Detour XL Sunglasses Page
Company: Detour Sunglasses
Role Type: Part-Time to Start, Potential Full-Time Opportunity
Location: In-person / local content creation required
Detour Sunglasses is looking for an outgoing, funny, and charismatic Social Media Content Creator to help grow our XL sunglasses social media page.
This role is not just filming product videos or sitting behind a desk editing content. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being out in public, talking to strangers, creating funny moments, and turning real-life interactions into entertaining social media content.
The main focus will be creating content around our XL sunglasses line, including street interviews, challenges, funny skits, reaction-style videos, and other social-first content designed for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and paid ads.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be responsible for helping create fun, engaging, and personality-driven content for our XL sunglasses page. This may include:
- Going out in public to interact with strangers and film street-style content
- Running challenges, giveaways, and funny social experiments
- Creating skits and short-form videos around big heads, sunglasses, confidence, fashion, and everyday funny situations
- Being on camera as the face/personality of the content
- Coming up with new content ideas that fit the Detour XL brand
- Helping film, organize, and potentially edit short-form videos
- Testing different hooks, formats, and content styles to see what gets traction
- Working with our team to create content that can be used organically and in ads
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who naturally has a funny, outgoing, and charismatic personality. You should be the type of person who can walk up to strangers, start a conversation, and make people feel comfortable on camera.
This role is a great fit for someone who:
- Is very comfortable on camera
- Is not afraid to approach strangers in public
- Can handle awkward or uncomfortable situations without getting nervous
- Has a strong sense of humor
- Can think quickly and improvise
- Understands TikTok/Reels-style content
- Enjoys creating funny, entertaining, and sometimes slightly uncomfortable social content
- Has good energy and can keep conversations fun
- Is reliable, self-motivated, and willing to test different content ideas
- Can represent the brand in a positive and professional way while still being fun
Important: This Is a Public-Facing Content Role
A big part of this job will involve being out on the street, at events, in public areas, or in other real-world settings getting content with strangers.
You need to be comfortable with rejection, awkward moments, and unpredictable interactions. The right person will be able to laugh things off, keep the energy up, and turn everyday situations into entertaining videos.
Example Content Ideas:
Some examples of the type of content you may help create:
- “Big Head Challenge” street interviews
- Asking strangers to try on XL sunglasses
- Funny fit checks
- Public giveaways
- “Does this fit your head?” style videos
- Skits about people who can never find sunglasses that fit
- Reaction videos with customers or strangers
- Challenges where people can win a free pair
Experience
What matters most is your personality, confidence, creativity, and ability to create entertaining moments with real people.
Role Structure
We are open to both part-time and full-time, but ideally this role would start part-time so we can test the content, see what gets traction, and make sure it is a good fit for both sides.
If the content performs well and the role proves valuable, there is potential for this to grow into a full-time position.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating TikToks, Reels, or YouTube Shorts
- Basic video editing skills
- Comfort filming with a phone or camera
- Interest in comedy, street interviews, fashion, sports, or lifestyle content
- Understanding of viral hooks and short-form video trends
We care less about a perfect resume and more about whether you have the personality, confidence, and creativity to make fun content people actually want to watch.
