About the role
Inanna is a licensed cannabis contract manufacturer and distributor. We make and move regulated product for well known brands, which means our compliance function is not paperwork that happens after the fact. It is what lets product ship. This is a single owner compliance role. You will own METRC, label and packaging compliance, our SOP library, testing coordination, and our correspondence with the Department of Cannabis Control. If you like catching the error before it leaves the building, this role is built for you.
What you will own
- METRC. Packages, conversions, transfers, and manifests for a Type N manufacturing license and a Type 11 distribution license. Daily reconciliation of METRC against physical inventory.
- Label and packaging compliance. Pre release review of every label and package against current DCC requirements. Maintain our label control process so nothing ships with a defect.
- SOPs. Maintain and expand our SOP library, keep it current with regulation changes, and make sure the floor actually follows it.
- Testing and COAs. Coordinate lab testing, verify full panels and certificates of analysis, and confirm results match label claims before release.
- Agency correspondence and audits. Respond to DCC notices, prepare for and host inspections, and keep records audit ready at all times.
A typical week
You review and release batches for transfer, reconcile METRC, audit a set of labels against the current rules, update an SOP after a regulation change, pull together a response to an agency request, and tell operations clearly when something cannot ship and why. You work closely with the kitchen, packaging, and operations, and you report directly to the CEO.
What you need to have
- One of the following: hands on California cannabis compliance experience in manufacturing and distribution, or compliance and quality experience in another regulated consumable manufacturing field such as food, dietary supplement, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical. Cannabis retail or cultivation only experience is not a fit for this role.
- METRC fluency with packages, conversions, transfers, and manifests, or a clear track record of mastering a mandatory regulatory reporting or tracking system quickly. We provide METRC certification and short term onboarding support, so this is the one area where we will help you ramp.
- Working knowledge of DCC labeling, packaging, and testing requirements, and the judgment to tell a real violation from a non issue.
- Exceptional attention to detail. This is the single most important quality for this role, and we screen for it directly.
- Self direction. You will be the only compliance person here, so you need to get up to speed and verify your own work without hand holding.
Nice to have
- METRC certification, food safety or GMP background, experience writing SOPs, or prior experience responding to a DCC notice to comply.
How we hire
Because attention to detail is the whole job, our process includes a short paid skills exercise of about one hour. You will review a set of mock records and tell us what is wrong and what you would do. It is the fastest way for both sides to know the fit is real before an offer.
Compensation and details
Salary range 70,000 to 95,000 dollars per year, depending on experience. Full time, on site in Los Angeles. Benefits and details discussed in the interview process.
