Employment Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation range for this role is: $54,000.00 to $62,000.00 per year.

Job Summary:
The Bar Manager leads beverage operations for Plaza del Sol and helps create a welcoming, culturally vibrant guest experience that reflects the venue’s mission and community impact. This role oversees bar service, staff leadership, inventory, vendor coordination, financial controls, and compliance with all applicable alcohol service and safety requirements. The Bar Manager plays a key role in supporting Plaza del Sol as a food hall, event center, and community destination that celebrates Latino entrepreneurship, culture, and hospitality. The Bar Manager has the opportunity to be innovative with a culturally specific mixology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day bar operations, including service standards, opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, organization, and guest experience.
- Manage beverage program execution across regular service and special events, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with Plaza del Sol’s brand and community-centered atmosphere.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and coach bartenders and bar support staff to maintain strong performance, accountability, and hospitality standards.
- Oversee inventory management, purchasing, receiving, storage, and cost controls for alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, bar supplies, and related materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with distributors, vendors, and internal partners to support efficient operations and strong product availability.
- Monitor sales, labor, waste, and pour cost performance; prepare reports and recommend operational improvements to support financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and organizational requirements related to alcohol service, food safety, cash handling, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Partner with Plaza del Sol leadership and event staff to support beverage service for private events, community programming, and special activations.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and proactively, using sound judgment to protect the guest experience and the reputation of Plaza del Sol.
- Contribute to beverage menu planning, promotions, and service enhancements that strengthen customer
- Engagement and support Plaza del Sol’s identity as a vibrant cultural and entrepreneurial hub.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience in hospitality, restaurant management, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in bar, restaurant, or hospitality operations, including supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing staff, schedules, inventory, ordering, and service standards in a high-volume environment.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices, liquor law compliance, cash handling, and health/sanitation requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
- Ability to analyze sales and operational data and use sound judgment to improve performance.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on business and event schedules.
- Must meet all requirements for legal alcohol service in Minnesota, including any required permits, certifications, or training.
Preferred
- Experience launching or scaling bar operations in a new venue, food hall, event center, or multi-concept hospitality setting.
- Experience supporting beverage service for private events, community events, weddings, or cultural programming.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, scheduling platforms, and inventory management tools.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, especially Spanish and English.
- Experience working in a mission-driven, nonprofit-adjacent, or community-based organization.
- Knowledge of Latino food, beverage, and hospitality traditions that can support an authentic and inclusive guest experience.
- Certified Bartender.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to move equipment, documents, or work materials up to 30 pounds.
