Plans and presents children's story hour classes, crafts, and other library activities. Provides readers’ advisory services for children, parents, and caregivers. Conducts bibliographic searches and operates audiovisual equipment. Assists library members in finding reference materials for homework assignments/other projects and demonstrates how to access electronic reference products through the internet.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours),
OR
- Graduation from high school/equivalent; minimum of one (1) year of college-level coursework (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours) AND one (1) year of experience working in a library,
OR
- Graduation from high school/equivalent; minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a library.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience with teaching/early childhood education/storytelling,
- Experience with public speaking/conducting presentations,
- Knowledge of children's literature (must specify on application), and
- Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
