We are seeking a passionate and energetic Special Education Teacher to join our team. In this vital role, you will develop and implement tailored educational plans that meet the unique needs of students with diverse disabilities. Your enthusiasm and expertise will inspire growth, foster independence, and promote a positive learning environment for children at various stages of development. Duties
- Design and deliver individualized lesson plans aligned with students’ IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals across core subjects such as literacy, math, and life skills
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and parents to support student progress
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavioral management techniques and classroom management strategies
- Conduct assessments and utilize standardized testing to monitor student development and adjust instructional approaches accordingly
- Implement early intervention strategies for young children to promote childhood development milestones
- Provide speech therapy support and assist in curriculum development tailored for students with communication challenges
- Support students with autism, deaf education needs, or other developmental disabilities through specialized instructional methods
Skills
- Proven experience in classroom management within special education settings
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development for diverse learners, including literacy education and math instruction
- Expertise in working with individuals with disabilities, including autism, developmental disabilities, and behavioral health needs
- Skilled in creating engaging lesson plans that incorporate tutoring, mentoring, and library services when appropriate
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress tracking, and standardized testing procedures
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and team members
- Experience in early childhood education or preschool settings; Montessori or private school experience is a plus
- Ability to implement behavioral therapy techniques and manage challenging behaviors effectively
