We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to support our behavioral health team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in psychiatric care and possess the skills necessary to assist in patient monitoring, behavior management, and crisis intervention. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges within a hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being through continuous observation and documentation of behavioral changes.
- Assist in implementing treatment plans by supporting patient activities and therapeutic interventions.
- Respond promptly and effectively to psychiatric crises or behavioral incidents, ensuring safety for patients and staff.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in medical records.
- Maintain accurate medical records related to patient care, observations, and interventions.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and mental health professionals to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care.
- Engage with patients using respectful communication techniques to foster trust and cooperation.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in psychiatric or behavioral health settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of psychiatry principles, crisis intervention techniques, and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, patient observation protocols, and medical recordkeeping standards.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in acute care environments is preferred.
- Strong skills in patient monitoring, behavioral health support, and hospital or corrections facility medical clinic experience.
- Ability to respond calmly during psychiatric emergencies while maintaining safety protocols.
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
