The Paramedic, under the direction of the Operational Medical Director, performs care appropriate to the patient population served and meets routine and life-threatening patient care needs. The Paramedic may be required to respond under routine or emergency conditions; assess the scene for hazards; triage multiple patients, especially in mass casualty situations; provide assessment, stabilization and treatment of life-threatening conditions utilizing skills within the Paramedic scope of practice, and within the protocols set forth by the Operational Medical Director. The Paramedic will also provide routine, non-emergent care and transportation to patients as needed by ambulance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Virginia Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate certification required
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support or recognized equivalent required for hire. AHA ACLS is required within 6 months of hire.
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support or recognized equivalent required for hire. AHA PALS is required within 6 months of hire.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR required or recognized equivalent required for hire. AHA BLS is required within 6 months of hire.
- VAVRS or VDFP EVOC required.
- Hazardous Materials Awareness required within the first year of employment.
- FEMA IS 100, 200, and 700
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in healthcare or related field
- Previous pre-hospital EMS or transport experience
- National registry paramedic.
Travel Required
Travel is expected to be between 10% and 25% of the time.
Salary Range: $24.39 - $35.36 / Hour
