American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in an Acute Neurosurgery and ENT unit, requiring NC or compact RN licensure and NIHSS certification.

18-bed post-op unit specializing in Acute Neurosurgery and ENT patients
-
Neurosurgery cases include brain and spinal surgeries, traumas, cancer, stroke, and intracranial bleeds
-
ENT cases include head and neck malignancies, cancer, infection, and procedures involving the head, mouth, tongue, jaw, thyroid, and oropharynx

Patient ratio of 1:5
-
Day shift schedule from 7:00am to 7:00pm
-
36 hours per week over 3 shifts per day, with 12-hour shifts
-
48-hour weeks can be accommodated
-
0.9 FTE position
-
Every other weekend required
-
Every other holiday required
-
No on-call responsibilities

Required to function as charge nurse as needed, with training provided

Active RN license in North Carolina (Standard or Compact) currently in hand

Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum one year of nursing experience required

Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required

BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school preferred

Deliver competent clinical nursing care to complex post-op neurosurgery and ENT patients, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs

Perform bedside point of care testing as part of the patient care plan

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care

Assess and address discharge planning needs, including high-risk cases

Participate in unit performance improvement and professional growth activities

Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment
