Knickerbocker Pools & Spas is seeking an experienced, field-ready Service Technician to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain swimming pool and spa equipment at customers' homes throughout the Dayton area.
This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically skilled, enjoys solving problems, and is comfortable working independently while providing outstanding customer service.
Position Overview
Service Technicians travel daily to customer locations to diagnose equipment issues, perform repairs and installations, verify proper operation, and educate customers on the safe use and maintenance of their equipment.
Training is practical and hands-on. New technicians work alongside experienced team members before transitioning to their own service routes.
Responsibilities
- Travel to residential job sites throughout our service area.
- Install, test, maintain, and repair pool and spa equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using testing equipment, observation, and customer information.
- Repair or replace defective components and identify additional parts or materials when needed.
- Verify proper system operation before leaving each job.
- Educate customers on equipment operation, routine maintenance, and preventative care.
- Document work performed and communicate findings clearly with customers and office staff.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively at all times.
Qualifications
- Several years of professional experience using hand and power tools in a construction, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or similar skilled trade.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Comfortable translating non-technical customer descriptions into practical repair solutions.
- Professional attitude with excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physically able to lift heavy equipment, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces and outdoor conditions.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Applicants without meaningful hands-on mechanical or construction experience will not be considered for this position.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 a.m. – Until Scheduled Jobs Are Complete
- Saturday work is required during the busy spring and fall seasons.

Employment Expectations
This is a year-round position. Continued winter employment is based on performance, reliability, customer satisfaction, and business demand. Technicians who consistently demonstrate strong productivity, quality workmanship, and teamwork are typically retained throughout the winter season.
Our busiest months are April through September. Because this is our peak service season, time off during these months is extremely limited and subject to operational needs.
