Job Summary:
The Mining Foreman oversees daily mine operations to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements. This position coordinates personnel, equipment, and materials to maintain consistent production while promoting a strong safety culture and teamwork among crew members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily mining and production activities, including drilling, loading, hauling, and material handling.
- Monitor equipment performance and production output to meet tonnage and quality targets (e.g., frac sand specs).
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with MSHA regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
- Conduct pre-shift safety meetings, workplace examinations, and incident investigations as required.
- Schedule and assign tasks to operators, mechanics, and laborers based on operational priorities.
- Inspect mining areas for hazards, unsafe conditions, or potential production issues and take corrective action.
- Communicate effectively with maintenance, processing plant, and management teams to coordinate operations and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of production, time, equipment usage, and materials.
- Train and mentor employees in safe work practices, proper equipment operation, and company procedures.
- Assist with planning and implementing mine development projects, pit sequencing, and equipment moves.
- Participate in budgeting, cost control, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred; technical or mining-related work preferred.
- 3–5 years of mining experience (frac sand, aggregates, or surface mining preferred).
- 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Thorough knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in production reporting and basic computer applications (Excel, dispatch systems, etc.).
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of mobile mining equipment (excavators, loaders, haul trucks, dozers).
- Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform inspections across rough terrain.
Work Environment:
- Surface mining environment with exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions.
- Typical schedule includes 10–12 hour shifts; weekends or nights may be required.
- PPE and adherence to safety protocols are mandatory.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed.
- Prolonged standing, walking, climbing, and working in noisy and dusty environments.
- Ability to work in a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and nights if required.

Experience:
- Excavating Foreman: 5 years (Preferred)
- Field Construction Managment: 3 years (Required)
