Job Summary
The Flag Football Sports Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the overall flag football experience on game day. This position works closely with referees, coaches, players, parents, and the Site Manager to make sure games run smoothly, safely, and on time while creating a positive experience for everyone involved.
The Sports Coordinator will be the go-to person for flag football operations at the venue, helping ensure fields are properly set up, referees understand and consistently enforce the rules, coaches and parents have their questions addressed, and any issues are communicated to the Site Manager.
We are hiring for our Fall Season starting September 20th! Practices and games are held on Saturdays, making this a great 1-day-per-week position for someone who enjoys sports and working with kids.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all flag football games and game-day operations at the assigned venue
- Make sure fields are properly set up and ready for games and practices
- Ensure referees understand the i9 Sports rules and are enforcing them consistently and appropriately
- Monitor referees throughout the day and provide guidance or correction when needed
- Make sure games start and finish on time and that the game schedule stays on track
- Step in and referee games when needed
- Communicate with coaches and parents to answer questions, address concerns, and ensure we are meeting their expectations
- Help create a positive, fun, and sportsmanlike environment for players and families
- Step in to help run a team practice or coach a team when a coach is absent
- Assist coaches with understanding rules, game procedures, and expectations
- Identify issues or opportunities for improvement and communicate them to the Site Manager
- Work closely with the Site Manager to provide feedback on the week-to-week feel, challenges, and overall experience at the venue so the Site Manager can communicate important information to the owner
- Help resolve game-day issues quickly and professionally
- Promote the i9 Sports values of fun, learning, sportsmanship, and safety
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of flag football and a passion for working with kids
- Previous flag football playing, coaching, or officiating experience preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable taking charge and making decisions in a fast-paced game-day environment
- Ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise
- Positive attitude and ability to build strong relationships with coaches, referees, players, and parents
- Dependable and willing to step in wherever needed to keep the program running smoothly
- Ability to give constructive feedback and hold referees and coaches accountable to program expectations
- Ability to work Saturdays for the full duration of the season, approximately 6 weeks
- Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check
