Senior Vocational Coordinator
work in our Supported Employment program, provide support and skills-training to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in an employment setting within the community. This position would also work with a population in our Emergency housing program.
This is an ideal role for a motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently, and develop and foster relationships with our community partners.
The Vocational Specialist provides intake, assessment, job readiness/job search preparation, and/or post-employment follow-up services to program participants. The Vocational Specialist utilizes a variety of tools and programming to support participants on their paths to employment and independence.
- Evaluate and match the strengths and interests of the individuals we support to an appropriate employment situation (individual placement, internship, work experience, etc.).
- Develop employment goals and plans.
- Evaluate and update goals as needed.
- Ensure program and documentation guidelines are met for all programs (SEMP, ETP, Pathway to Employment).
- Train individuals in core tasks. Develop, create and implement coaching strategies to expedite skill acquisition for those served, and maximize independence at all times.
- Create a task analysis and utilize for training purposes
- Assist individuals on a one-to-one basis to achieve employment related goals, per employer’s specifications, showing progression at the job site and improvement through SEMP Habilitation plan
- Maintain relationships with existing employers and establish relationships with new employers who are willing to hire the individuals in our program
- Provide protective oversight for individuals at their job location
- Assist individuals with travel training supports if/when necessary and ability to transport self and individuals to multiple locations
- Perform other duties as assigned.
