Bozeman Summit School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Classroom Assistant to support both our Upper Elementary (ages 9–12) and Early Childhood (ages 3–6) Montessori classrooms. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children of different ages, is organized and flexible, and values creating a peaceful, respectful learning environment.
This position works closely with our Lead Teachers and teaching team to ensure consistency in the classroom while supporting the Montessori philosophy and the mission of Bozeman Summit School.
Upper Elementary Responsibilities
- Support students during the morning Montessori work cycle.
- Provide classroom coverage while the Lead Teacher takes scheduled breaks.
- Assist individual students and small groups as directed by the Lead Teacher.
- Check student work and provide encouragement and guidance.
- Help maintain classroom organization, materials, and supplies.
- Support classroom management while encouraging student independence.
- Assist with classroom projects and daily routines.
Early Childhood Responsibilities
- Provide classroom coverage while teachers take scheduled breaks.
- Support children during the afternoon rest period.
- Clean, organize, and prepare the classroom to ensure it is ready for the next school day.
- Assist children as needed while maintaining a calm and peaceful environment.
- Help maintain Montessori materials and classroom cleanliness.
- Support the Lead Teacher with daily classroom needs and transitions.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient, and enjoys working with children.
- Comfortable working with children across multiple age groups (ages 3–12).
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
- A collaborative team member with strong communication skills.
- Willing to learn about Montessori education (Montessori experience is a plus but not required).
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds and actively engage with children indoors and outdoors.
Requirements
The selected candidate must be willing to:
- Successfully complete a background check.
- Complete fingerprinting as required by Montana childcare licensing.
- Complete all required childcare licensing trainings and continuing education.
- Meet all licensing requirements for employment in a licensed childcare facility.
