If you're a Studio Manager at a franchise and you've hit the ceiling - this is your out.
Union Fitness is an independently owned, women-owned studio built for adults over 40 who want real coaching, not a treadmill in a warehouse. We've got a 5-star reputation and members who've been with us for years.
You'd report directly to the owner, Jen Williams. No regional manager. No corporate scorecard. Nobody above you rewriting the plan every quarter. If you're doing the work at a franchise and not getting paid for it, and the seat above you isn't opening. This is worth a conversation.
What you'd own
Not a task list — the outcomes you're measured on:
- Membership growth - new members against a monthly target, from our leads plus relationships you build across Eagan and Dakota County
- Retention - churn under 4%. Members stay because they're known by name; you own at-risk outreach and the experience that prevents cancellations
- Consult conversion - show rate above 60%, close rate above 70%
- A studio that feels like the best hour of someone's day - clean, on time, warm, personal
The day-to-day
Opens or closes depending on the week. Consults with new prospects. Coaching your team on the floor. Handling member concerns before they become cancellations. Real time outside the building on local partnerships.
About 40% of this job is new member consultations - we're saying that plainly. The wrong person here want an operations job and will get blind sided by the need to manage sales and onboard new clients daily.
Hours: Studio runs 5:30am–7pm weekdays, 7:30–11am weekends. You'd coach 8-10 sessions/week (3-4 early/mid mornings, 1-2 evenings, 2 Saturdays a month) plus time in the studio building relationships and promoting retail. This isn't a role where you clock in for sessions and leave.
Who this is for
- 2+ years managing a team - fitness, hospitality, retail, restaurant, or clinic ops all count
- Comfortable being measured on numbers, and holding others to them
- Can have a direct conversation with an underperformer without it becoming a crisis
- Genuinely likes our members - they're over 40, they've been talked down to at gyms before, and they know instantly if you don't want them there
- Fitness certification preferred but not required. We'll teach you the industry. We can't teach you leadership.
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary: $55,000–60,000, depending on experience
- Commission on new memberships
- Quarterly retention bonus tied to churn
- On-target earnings: $65,000–75,000 at current studio pace
- Health insurance stipend after 6 months

We'll walk you through the bonus math in the first interview. No vague "bonus potential."
