Paraprofessional/Aide

DeKalb ISD is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional/Aide to provide essential instructional, behavioral, and administrative support within the classroom. Working under the direct supervision of certified classroom teachers and the Campus Principal, the primary purpose of this role is to assist in delivering daily lessons, maintaining a positive learning environment, and helping students reach their full academic and social potential. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and deeply committed to fostering student growth, engagement, and success.
Education: High School Diploma
Certification: Paraprofessional Training & Texas Aide Certification is expected prior to the start of the 2026-2027 school year
Experience: It is preferred that candidates have experience working with children in a school or other setting.

Instructional Support: Assist the classroom teacher by reinforcing daily lessons, reviewing materials with students individually or in small groups, and helping students master core academic concepts.

Classroom Management: Help maintain a safe, positive, and structured learning environment by encouraging good behavior, helping students stay on task, and supporting classroom routines.

Administrative Assistance: Assist the teacher with daily clerical duties, including grading assignments, taking attendance, organizing student work, and maintaining classroom records.

Classroom & Material Preparation: Help prepare instructional materials, set up classroom displays or learning centers, and organize educational tools to ensure lessons run smoothly.

Student Supervision: Actively monitor and assist students during non-instructional times, including classroom transitions, recess, lunch, assemblies, and during morning arrivals or afternoon departures to ensure a safe campus environment.

Patience & Empathy: Demonstrate high levels of patience and empathy when working with diverse groups of students, ensuring a supportive and encouraging environment for all learners.

Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with teachers, campus staff, and administrators to support daily school operations and student achievement.
DeKalb ISD is a 4-day school week district.
Free Pre-K is provided for children of teacher's working in the district.
