Job Overview
Physical Therapist
The Parkinson’s Empowerment Place | Baltimore, MD
Join us in creating a new model of Parkinson’s care.
The Parkinson’s Empowerment Place is a startup physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, fitness and wellness center in Baltimore, Maryland dedicated to helping people with Parkinson’s disease live stronger, more active, and more empowered lives.
We are building a collaborative, community-centered environment where rehabilitation and wellness come together under one roof. We are looking for a Physical Therapist who is passionate about Parkinson’s disease, neurologic rehabilitation, exercise, and helping people achieve meaningful goals beyond the traditional therapy setting.
The Opportunity
As an early member of our team, you will have the opportunity to help shape both the clinical culture and patient experience of a new organization. You will work alongside physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, fitness professionals, and wellness specialists to provide coordinated, individualized care.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional clinical role—you will help build a program and a community from the ground up.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and treat individuals with Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on each person's goals, abilities, and stage of disease.
Provide evidence-based physical therapy focused on mobility, balance, gait, strength, endurance, flexibility, and functional independence.
Incorporate therapeutic exercise, movement strategies, and wellness principles into care.
Collaborate closely with OT, SLP, fitness, and wellness team members.
Educate patients and families about strategies for maintaining function and independence.
Help patients transition from rehabilitation into long-term fitness and wellness programs when appropriate.
Participate in the development of innovative Parkinson’s-focused programs, classes, and community offerings.
Contribute to a positive, encouraging environment where patients feel empowered rather than defined by their diagnosis.
Maintain appropriate documentation and professional standards.
What We’re Looking For
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent PT degree.
Current Maryland Physical Therapist license or eligibility for Maryland licensure.
Strong interest in treating Parkinson’s disease.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A collaborative, creative, and entrepreneurial mindset.
A passion for exercise, movement, wellness, and helping people remain active.
Someone who enjoys building relationships with patients and becoming part of their long-term support system.
Parkinson’s-specific experience is highly valued, but we are also interested in clinicians who are eager to develop deep expertise in this area. Experience with LSVT BIG, PWR!Moves, Rock Steady Boxing, or other Parkinson’s-specific approaches is a plus.
Why Join The Parkinson’s Empowerment Place?
Be part of something new. Help build a specialized Parkinson’s care model from the ground up.
Make a lasting impact. Develop relationships with patients that extend beyond traditional episodes of care.
Work collaboratively. Be part of an interdisciplinary team spanning PT, OT, SLP, fitness, and wellness.
Think differently. Help bridge the gap between rehabilitation and lifelong health, fitness, and community.
Grow professionally. Develop expertise in one of the most rewarding areas of neurologic rehabilitation.
Help shape the culture. Your ideas and clinical expertise will have a meaningful influence on our programs and future growth.
Our Mission
The Parkinson’s Empowerment Place provides a fun, safe, and supportive environment to empower people living with Parkinson’s disease to maximize their healthspan, improve their quality of life, and build community by participating in PD-specific group exercise classes, educational opportunities, support groups, functional skills training, and therapeutic activities, including those provided in one-on-one physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy sessions. We are a 501(c)(3) organization envisioning a power place for the PD community where resources and services are offered under one roof.
If you are a passionate physical therapist who wants to help redefine what Parkinson’s care can look like, we would love to hear from you.
