American Traveler is seeking an LPN for a Medical-Surgical assignment at a correctional health facility in Cook County, IL, requiring an active Illinois LPN license and corrections experience if trained outside of Illinois.

Work setting is a correctional health facility

Medical-Surgical unit with a mandatory float requirement — clinicians may be floated to any Cook County facility or unit at the facility's discretion, including outside of primary competency area, up to 50 miles from the home facility

Scheduled for day shifts, 11:00–23:30, three 12-hour shifts per week

Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required

Charting is done in Cerner

Free parking available on a first-come, first-served basis

Navy blue scrubs required

Active Illinois LPN license required (no pending licenses); if nursing school was completed outside of Illinois, recent corrections experience in Illinois is required

License required if applicable

Current BLS certification required

Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing

Documented completion of pharmacology/medication administration coursework in compliance with IDFPR standards for Practical Nurses (documentation may be requested)

1 year of recent, full-time paid clinical experience in an acute care or ambulatory care facility preferred

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required — no exceptions

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel pay rate

This is a mandatory float facility — clinicians may receive float assignments to other Cook County units or facilities, including outside their primary area of competency; a team-based model is used when floating outside primary competency

Float notifications may be given as little as 2 hours before a shift; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation

RTO is capped at 5 days total for the contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
-
No RTO approved on weekends, on holidays, or the day before or after a holiday
-
No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be approved
-
Holiday coverage is required — calling out on a holiday may result in contract cancellation
