An established Colorado heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Project Manager with direct CDOT bridge construction experience.
This person will lead complex bridge and structural concrete projects while preparing to potentially transition into an Operations Manager position within approximately one to three years.
This is not a commercial building role. Candidates must have contractor-side heavy civil construction experience involving bridges and CDOT projects.
- Lead approximately 1–4 bridge and heavy civil projects from startup through closeout
- Manage project budgets, job costs, billing, monthly forecasts, and change orders
- Oversee and develop Project Engineers and support other Project Managers as needed
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents on manpower, production, scheduling, and field execution
- Develop and maintain CPM schedules using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, procurement needs, scopes of work, and project documentation
- Build and maintain relationships with CDOT, clients, trade partners, and project stakeholders
- Identify schedule delays, budget fade, extended rentals, back charges, and other project risks early
- Support estimating and prepare pricing for project change orders
- Contribute to broader operational planning, resource allocation, and team leadership
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards
- 10+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction
- Direct CDOT project experience is required
- Bridge construction, replacement, rehabilitation, or repair experience is required
- Strong ownership of project budgets, job costs, billing, forecasting, and change orders
- Experience leading Project Engineers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects or complex bridge projects
- Strong understanding of civil drawings, specifications, contracts, and DOT requirements
- Experience developing and maintaining CPM construction schedules
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work onsite and travel to project locations throughout Colorado
- Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 experience
- Viewpoint experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Structural concrete, pile driving, deep foundation, retaining wall, or box culvert experience
- Previous experience mentoring Project Managers or Project Engineers
- Interest and readiness to advance into an Operations Manager position within one to three years
