Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all dental equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and digital X-ray systems while maintaining proper radiation safety standards.
- Manage patient medical records and documentation accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix Ascend ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Obtain vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care delivery.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to optimize clinic flow.
- Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques and adhere strictly to infection control standards to ensure patient safety.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and performing vital signs assessments (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination in the clinic setting.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including 3D scanners, medical imaging devices, and digital X-ray machines confidently.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with dentists, hygienists, patients, and administrative staff seamlessly.
