Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Exhibit & Custom Millwork Installer to manage and execute the on-site setup, assembly, and dismantle of high-end trade show booths, experiential marketing activations, and custom architectural millwork.
The ideal candidate brings precision carpentry skills, strong problem-solving ability under tight deadlines, and experience reading complex shop drawings. This role requires travel to convention centers, event venues, and commercial spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Installation & Dismantle (I&D): Unpack, assemble, align, and anchor trade show exhibits, modular display systems, suspended rigging/graphics, and custom millwork structures.
- Carpentry & Millwork: Execute precise field cuts, scribe work, cabinet installation, laminate repairs, and finish work for custom wooden fixtures, reception desks, and display walls.
- Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation: Read and accurately build from architectural blueprints, shop drawings, finish schedules, and installation elevations.
- Site Leadership: Coordinate on-site union labor (when applicable), supervise local helper crews, and liaise directly with show management, general contractors, and clients.
- Quality Control & Troubleshooting: Conduct pre-event inspections, resolve structural or alignment issues on the fly, and perform touch-ups (paint, laminate, edge banding) to deliver a flawless final build.
- Packing & Logistics: Safely dismantle, inspect, pack, and inventory all assets into custom crates/cases for transport, ensuring zero damage to reusable display elements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3–5+ years in trade show installation & dismantle (I&D), custom millwork installation, or scenic carpentry.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with power tools, hand tools, pneumatic fasteners, laser levels, and hardware specific to exhibit building (e.g., matrix systems, cam locks, aluminum extrusions).
- Plan Reading: High level of proficiency reading shop drawings, construction documents, and CAD prints.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly, work at heights on lifts/scaffolding, and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Travel & Flexibility: Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel up to 60–75% of the time, including night and weekend shifts based on show schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification.
- Forklift and Scissor Lift / Boom Lift Operators Certification.
- Experience navigating union convention center environments (e.g., Freeman, GES).
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
