SUMMARY
The Fitter/Welder is responsible for preparing material surfaces to be welded per instructions. Will also operate various hand and power tools This position must be able to weld as needed. This is a safety sensitive position.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, tape measure, level, jack stands, plasma cutter, oxy/acetylene torch, chalk line, and other hand tools as required
- Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges and/or tape measure to ensure conformance with specifications

Prepare all material surfaces to be welded

Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as wire feed welder using GMAW and FCAW processes

Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions

Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding

Follows all safety policies and procedures

Consistently clocks into production jobs and maintains production averages at or above the expected standards

Coordinates and communicates effectively with all departments

Able to consistently maintain production averages at or above the expected standards

QUALIFICATIONS
- **MUST BE ABLE TO PASS AN OPEN ROOT 3G MIG/FLUXCORE FILL IN CAP WELD TEST**

2 years of Fitter/Welding experience
- 6 months of previous material handling experience or equivalent knowledge

Basic safety training

Basic math skills & ability to read tape measure
- Must have a firm understanding of volts and amps and be able to adjust accordingly

Basic data entry skills for maintenance breakdown calls

Capability to read and interpret blueprints, work order instructions, weld symbols, and operate required tools involved in position

Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures – detect defects
