Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize clinic flow.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and assist with medical billing processes, including medical collection procedures and Medicare documentation review.
- Manage patient intake by collecting accurate demographic information, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers through phone etiquette and clear documentation of care plans or clinical notes.
- Maintain organized medical records, including filing, data entry with 10 key typing skills, and managing electronic health records (EHR) management systems.
- Support clinical staff by reviewing documentation for accuracy, coding procedures with CPT, ICD-9/10 codes, and assisting with medical coding tasks to ensure proper billing and recordkeeping.
Experience
- Prior clinic experience or healthcare administrative support is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance processes, and health information management practices.
- Experience handling medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and Medicare documentation is advantageous.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Excellent computer skills with familiarity in Microsoft Office Suite for administrative tasks.
- Proven customer service skills combined with clerical experience in a busy medical office environment to ensure seamless patient interactions.
