Are you passionate about hands-on fabrication, working with fiberglass, and building unique projects from scratch? We’re looking for a Fiberglass Fabricator with composite experience to join our production team. You’ll be working in a high-quality, detail-driven environment crafting large-scale custom model airplanes using fiberglass layup techniques, resins, and CNC-machined parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate fiberglass parts using hand lay-up methods on positive and negative molds created from our 4-axis CNC mill
- Assist in mold making, plug creation, and composite tooling for model aircraft production
- Apply resins, gelcoats, and fillers; sand, trim, and finish composite parts to spec
- Read and follow work orders, drawings, and fabrication templates
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the shop
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team including CNC machinists, painters, and installers
Qualifications & Skills:
- 1+ years of experience in fiberglass fabrication, composite layup, or a related field (marine, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with resins, fiberglass cloth, gelcoat, and surface prep techniques
- Familiarity with mold-building, sanding, trimming, and final part finishing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using hand tools, air tools, and PPE
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with vacuum bagging or core material layups
- Working knowledge of composite mold-making
- Interest in aviation, modeling, or aircraft restoration
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Work safely around fumes, dust, and chemicals using provided PPE
