Mt. Lemmon Water District Laborer/Maintenance Worker
Education and experience:
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- General construction and maintenance skills experience is preferred.
Driver license: Valid Arizona driver’s license with no major driving violations for the last 36 months.
Essential Duties:
The following are typical duties to be performed by employees of the Mt. Lemmon Water District.
- Digging and backfilling holes and trenches with hand tools and or equipment.
- Maintain the water distribution system by installing, repairing, replacing and maintaining water lines, valves, pumps, tanks, meters, and boxes.
- Maintain and servicing vehicles and equipment and filling out inspection reports.
- Clean, repair and maintain all areas of the distribution system, office, yards, tanks.
- Performs landscaping such as pulling weeds, raking, debris removal, etc.
- Completes time sheets, logs, inspection reports, as-built drawings, need basic computer skills.
- Cutting, removing, and replacing concrete and or asphalt, basic pipe line knowledge preferred.
- Setting up traffic control with barricades, caution tape, and signs.
- Respond to water distribution system leaks and emergencies at all hours.
- Locating, marking/ blue staking water lines.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Regular job requirements and demands:
- Sit, stand, kneel, walk, climb, push, pull, reach, carry, crouch, climb ladders.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with others including, co-workers, supervisors, customers, contractors, and the general public, in person, by telephone, by computer, and by radio.
- Work indoor or outdoor.
- Work in various weather and temperature conditions during night or day, and on various types of terrain.
- Lift, push, pull, and/or carry moderate to heavy objects of 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, and 20 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds regularly,
- Proper and safe use of all hand tools, power tools, equipment, vehicles and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Know and follow traffic laws ordinances, and rules that apply to motor vehicle operations.
- Use good judgement and discretion in performing all job-related duties.
Laborer: Starting pay - $20.00, then up to $22.00 after 1 year, full time – advancement opportunities
