Performs chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic testing within QC guidelines; ensures specimen integrity; executes QC and proficiency testing; maintains inventory and safety compliance; supports training and collaboration.
- Graduate MT/CLS/CLT/MLT and/or certified OR Associate degree in CLT/MLT (trained in Microbiology).
- Microbiology experience including cultures, stains, ID, susceptibility.
- Perform and report qualitative/quantitative tests.
- Evaluate samples for integrity and validity.
- Operate/troubleshoot analyzers; maintain QC/QA.
- Train new staff and students.
- Collect specimens; utilize LIS/EMR.
- Microbiology: setups, stains, ID/susceptibility, parasitology, molecular testing; report critical results.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; >50 lbs with assistance/devices.
- Assist with patient repositioning and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment.
- Manual dexterity for clinical procedures and computer use; adequate vision, hearing, and speech.
