Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to join our Quality team. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing CMM inspection programs to support production, First Article Inspection (FAI), process validation, and final inspection activities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PC-DMIS and/or Calypso, a strong understanding of GD&T interpretation, and hands-on experience supporting AS9102 First Article Inspections in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
This individual will play a critical role in ensuring compliance to customer specifications, engineering requirements, and internal quality standards.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop, create, optimize, and maintain CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso
- Perform dimensional inspection of precision machined components using CMM and conventional inspection equipment
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to create effective inspection methods
- Apply advanced knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) for inspection planning and measurement strategies
- Support and execute AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) including ballooning drawings and validation of dimensional results
- Review part prints, models, customer requirements, and manufacturing process changes to determine inspection requirements
- Troubleshoot CMM programs and inspection setups to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Validate measurement methods and ensure repeatability and reproducibility of inspection processes
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Programming, Production, and Quality teams to resolve dimensional and process issues
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconforming product
- Maintain inspection documentation and records in accordance with aerospace quality requirements
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed
- Recommend improvements to inspection processes, tooling, and quality systems
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in CMM programming within a precision machining or aerospace manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso
- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
- Experience supporting and completing AS9102 First Article Inspections
- Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings and CAD models
- Experience with manual inspection tools including micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, and bore gages
- Knowledge of inspection methodologies, dimensional reporting, and quality documentation
- Experience working in an AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Zeiss CMM equipment
- Knowledge of CATIA, SolidWorks, or other CAD platforms
- Experience with MBD (Model-Based Definition) environments
- Familiarity with gage R&R and measurement system analysis
- Aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing experience preferred
