Plumbing Service Technician - Journeyman - $25-$32/hr - Company Truck
Description:
Let's Talk About What You'll Actually Be Doing
Here's how it usually goes.
You answer an ad for a plumber. You interview. Everybody smiles. You take the job.
Then three weeks in you figure out what the job really was. You're the drain guy now. Or you're the guy they send to every rough-in when they're behind. Or you're the guy who fixes what the apprentice broke yesterday, over and over, for the same money.
Nobody lied to you exactly. They just never told you.
So let's not do that. Here's the job, the pay, and who we're looking for. Read it and decide for yourself.
The Job
Residential service and repair, in and around Lexington.
Water heaters. Leaks. Repipes. Fixture and valve work. Drain and sewer issues. Diagnose it, price it, fix it, explain it to the homeowner in plain English.
Some replacement and install work when it comes up. Some overtime when a customer has water running through a ceiling and needs help right now. We expect you to be reasonable about that. We'll be reasonable back.
What you will not be doing is reading a sales script you'd be embarrassed to say out loud. If a customer needs a $180 repair, sell them the $180 repair. We've been here fifty years because people trust us, and we're not trading that for one big ticket.
The Money
$25 to $32 an hour, based on what you can do. Not on how many years you've been breathing.
Plus performance and production bonuses. Work clean and work fast, make more.
Plus:
- Health insurance
- Retirement plan
- Paid vacation
- Company truck
- Company uniforms
- Monday through Friday
Monday through Friday is not a typo. Your kid's Saturday ballgame is not a scheduling conflict here.
The Fifty Year Part
The King's Helper has been in business for fifty years.
That's not us bragging. That's us telling you the phone is going to ring tomorrow.
Fifty years in one town means three generations of Lexington families already know who to call. It means we are not one slow winter away from cutting a truck. It means when you tell your wife where you're working now, she doesn't have to google whether the company is going to make it.
Boring? Yes. Boring is the entire point.
Who We Want
- At least 2 years plumbing experience, at journeyman level
- Real troubleshooting ability, not swap-it-and-see
- Valid driver's license and a driving record we can insure
- Current plumbing certifications and licenses
- Your own hand tools
- Someone who can talk to a homeowner without talking down to them
- Willing to pass a background check and drug screen
Who This Is Not For
We'll save you the drive out here.
Don't apply if you need somebody standing over your shoulder telling you what's next.
Don't apply if you leave the crawlspace hatch open, the mud on the carpet, and the old fixture in the driveway. How you leave a house is how we get judged.
Don't apply if you argue with the homeowner. Some of them will be wrong. Some of them will be rude. You handle it anyway, or you call us and we handle it. You don't get in a fight in somebody's kitchen.
And don't apply if you can't tell a customer the truth when the truth costs us the ticket. That one's not up for discussion.
What Happens Next
Hit apply. Two minutes.
If it looks like a fit, we call you and have an actual conversation about the work, the money, and what you want out of the next ten years. No games. No three weeks of silence.
If you're a good plumber who's tired of finding out what the job really was after you took it, come talk to us.
