An accredited Islamic private independent school is looking for an English/Language Arts Middle School teacher. The candidate must be able to work seamlessly with a team of educators, and strongly connect with both adults and children on a social-emotional level. We are looking for a highly experienced teacher who is very knowledgeable and proficient in core curriculum instruction, as well as effective classroom management, differentiated instruction, and project based learning.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies/Arts, Child Development, or other education related major
- Multiple-subject teaching credential or equivalent
- Master’s Degree in Education only if the candidate’s Bachelor’s degree is in a field unrelated to the education of children
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and use of technology for instructional purposes (SmartBoard, online school database software)
- Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record
Professional Responsibilities:
- Maintain student records as required using online school database software and
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships and professional ethics
- Implement curriculum adopted by the School with rigor and fidelity
- Manage and organize the classroom to allow for effective instruction and high level of student engagement and learning
- Prepare and implement lesson plans with clear objectives and outcomes that provide direction for instruction, intervention, and enrichment based on students' areas of strength and need
- Demonstrate deep knowledge and understanding of subject matter
- Approach subject matter in a positive and enthusiastic manner
- Encourage active student participation by respectfully listening and responding to students' questions clearly and completely
- Consistently and proactively address undesirable behavior with firmness and fairness
- Show respect and consideration for students, staff, parents, etc.
- Periodically assess student progress and daily ask relevant questions of varying difficulty throughout the lesson to check for understanding
- Foster desirable school-community relationships
- Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other instructional materials
- Participate in meetings and professional development opportunities provided by the school
- Be prompt in arriving in and dismissing a class in conformity with school schedules, as well as reporting to school and to any meetings
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with parents through effective use of progress reports, report cards, and conferences
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School and Elementary Director
