Responsibilities
- Lead daily horseback riding lessons and equine activities tailored to different age groups and skill levels
- Ensure the safety of all campers by supervising riding sessions and maintaining proper handling of horses and equipment
- Foster a positive environment that encourages learning, confidence, and respect among campers
- Assist with camp setup, cleanup, and organization of riding areas and equipment
- Support campers in their personal growth by providing guidance on riding techniques, animal care, and teamwork
- Enforce camp rules and safety protocols consistently to promote a secure experience for everyone
- Collaborate with fellow counselors to plan engaging activities that complement equestrian lessons and overall camp programming
Skills
- Experience in horseback riding instruction or equestrian sports coaching preferred
- Strong classroom management skills to maintain discipline and focus during activities
- Knowledge of first aid procedures specific to outdoor settings and animal handling
- Background in childcare, early childhood education, or special education enhances your ability to connect with diverse campers
- Proven ability to work effectively with children and foster a supportive environment
- Previous camp experience or babysitting background demonstrates reliability and enthusiasm for youth development
- Excellent communication skills to guide children safely while encouraging their independence and confidence
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques suitable for young learners in outdoor settings
- Passion for working with animals, especially horses, combined with a genuine love for teaching children
