Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Preparation Worker to join our culinary team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the food service operation by assisting with meal preparation, ensuring food safety standards are met, and contributing to a positive dining experience for our guests. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and cooking, along with relevant experience in the food industry. Work hours would be Wednesdays to Saturdays 9:30am to 12:30pm or 1:00pm. Longer shifts may be available if desired.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of meals according to established recipes and menu plans
- Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and standards
- Perform kitchen duties such as chopping vegetables, cooking, and assembling dishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including knives and other food preparation tools
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal service
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is preferred
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food service operations
- Familiarity with food handling practices and safety regulations
- Experience in restaurant or culinary settings is a plus
- Excellent knife skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and catering services is desirable
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining a positive attitude
