Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Full Charge Bookkeeper to manage comprehensive accounting functions for our organization. This pivotal role involves maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in corporate and governmental accounting, demonstrating proficiency with various financial software systems, including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Workday, ADP, Kronos, Ceridian, and others. Your expertise will support the organization’s financial health by executing precise bookkeeping tasks, managing accounts payable and receivable, and performing complex account analysis with confidence and integrity.
Duties
- Manage the full cycle of bookkeeping activities including data entry, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts regularly to maintain precise financial records and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software such as Paychex, UltiPro, Xero, or similar platforms to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including bank reconciliations, account analysis, and budget variance reports to support management decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit requirements by maintaining meticulous documentation of all accounting activities.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures in accordance with GAAP standards; prepare necessary journal entries for closing processes.
- Handle confidential information responsibly while providing excellent customer service to internal teams and external vendors or auditors.
- Utilize advanced Excel data analysis skills for reporting purposes; maintain organized spreadsheets for tracking financial data accurately.
- Support payroll processing using systems like ADP or Kronos; ensure accurate timekeeping and wage calculations.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing requested documentation and explanations of account activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Full Charge Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within a corporate or governmental setting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles such as GAAP; familiarity with governmental accounting standards is a plus.
- Extensive experience working with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Workday, ADP, Ceridian, UltiPro, Kronos, Paychex or equivalent systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel—for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, journal entries, and general ledger management accurately.
- Knowledge of technical accounting concepts such as internal controls (SOX), account analysis, budgeting, credit analysis, debits & credits.
- Excellent numeracy skills combined with attention to detail; ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating across departments and supporting external audits.
