Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing excellent customer service at all times
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private plans, ensuring accurate billing and coding
- Handle multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently
- Maintain accurate dental records, medical documentation review, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with insurance claim submissions, follow-up on unpaid claims, and perform collections when necessary
- Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) like Meditech or Athenahealth
- Coordinate patient intake processes, including collecting medical history and updating care plans
- Ensure smooth office operations by managing medical billing, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and documentation review
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area while supporting clinic experience requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical or dental office setting
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management systems
- Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR systems like Meditech or Athenahealth is preferred
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (10 key typing)
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines with discretion and professionalism
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and insurance verification processes
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong communication skills coupled with excellent phone etiquette and customer service orientation
- Prior clinic or healthcare office experience is highly desirable
