Job description:
SUMMARY
A Welder/Fabricator is responsible for interpreting a drawing into a finished product by means of prepping, cleaning, tacking, welding and finishing. The person in this position must be able to work with small or large pieces, fabricate and weld to a drawing meeting +/- .030 tolerance and delivering a clean part.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Weld using TIG and MIG processes.
- Interpret drawings and measurements to plan layouts.
- Weld small and large components.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
- Able to set up welding machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.
- Prepare metal surfaces by grinding, cleaning with chemical solutions and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture
- Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Determining appropriate welding tools and equipment based on the requirements
- Other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Experience welding steel, stainless and aluminum parts preferrable
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a welder.
- Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to fit and weld pieces using best fabrication practices
- Strong oral communication skills
- Must be able to read a tape measure
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently required to stand
- Frequently required to walk
- Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs.
- Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
- Occasionally required to use ladder, bend, stoop.
- Able to operate and utilize a range of power and hand tools in carrying out welding activities
