We are seeking a bilingual Paralegal to support our immigration attorneys. This role requires a high level of organization and empathy, as you will be handling sensitive client stories and managing strict government deadlines. You will be responsible for preparing petitions, communicating with clients, and ensuring all filings comply with USCIS, EOIR, and Department of State requirements.
Key Responsibilities include the following
- Case Preparation & Documentation:
- · Prepare, proofread, and assemble immigration forms and petitions
- · Communicate with clients to gather required evidence,and review documents for completeness.
- · Draft cover letters, exhibits lists, and tables of contents for filing packages.
- Filing & Deadlines:
- · Monitor strict filing deadlines for RFEs (Requests for Evidence), court hearings, and status expirations.
- · Prepare courtesy copies and file forms with USCIS Lockbox, via mail, or online through the USCIS ELIS portal.
- · E-file with EOIR (Immigration Court) and manage paper filings for various immigration agencies.
- Client & Attorney Support:
- · Serve as the first point of contact for clients, answering questions about case status and document requests.
- · Schedule client meetings, virtual consultations, and USCIS biometrics appointments.
- · Maintain client files in an organized manner
- Office Administration:
- · Manage attorney calendars, including client consultations and filing cut-offs.
- · Process incoming and outgoing mail (FedEx/UPS for consular filings).
- · Assist with billing and invoicing for flat-fee immigration cases.
Qualifications
- Education: LLM degree or Bachelor +Paralegal Certificate.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a law firm; immigration experience strongly preferred.
- Language: Fluency in Mandarin and English is required. (Must be able to read, write, and interpret legal concepts in both languages).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
