A minimum of 1 years of verifiable experience in providing security services.

Former military or law enforcement experience is a plus.Job Responsibilities:

Operate metal detectors, Xray machines, and other screening equipment to ensure no prohibited items enter the courthouse.

Verify and validate the identity of individuals entering the building.
-
Provide clear instructions to visitors regarding security procedures.
-
Direct individuals to appropriate areas within the courthouse.
-
Monitor CCTV cameras and report any suspicious activity to supervisors.
-
Respond promptly to alarms or security breaches.
-
Assist in evacuating the building during emergencies following established protocols.

Ensure compliance with courthouse security rules and regulations.

Safely confiscate prohibited items and document as required.

Communicate effectively with courthouse staff, law enforcement, and the public.

Document incidents and prepare detailed reports as needed.

Maintain professionalism and provide courteous service to all visitors.

Address questions or concerns from the public in a respectful and informative manner.

Conduct routine checks of screening equipment to ensure functionality.

Report any malfunctions or issues for timely resolution.

Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on security procedures and technologies.

Adhere to all safety protocols and legal requirements relevant to courthouse security.

Valid California Identification Card

Active BSIS security permits (Guard Card, Firearm Permit, Baton Permit, Chemical Agent Permit)

Reliable means of communication (cell phone, radio, etc.)

Reliable means of transportation

Ability to pass the company’s preassignment screening process, including interview, drug test, and criminal background check

Knowledge of security equipment and protocols.

Ability to remain calm under pressure.

- Complete 8-hour BSIS-certified training course:
- Power to Arrest (3–4 hours, can be online)
- Appropriate Use of Force (5 hours, must be in-person)
- Apply via BSIS BreEZe online system
- Submit Live Scan fingerprint background check (DOJ & FBI)
- Pay BSIS application fee (~$50–$60)
- Complete additional 32 hours of BSIS-mandated training:
- 16 hours within first 30 days:
- Public Relations (Community & Customer) – 4 hrs
- Observation & Documentation – 4 hrs
- Communication and Its Significance – 4 hrs
- Liability / Legal Aspects – 4 hrs
- 16 hours within 6 months:
- Officer Safety (2 hr)
- Evacuation Procedures (1 hr)
- Workplace Violence (1 hr)
- Arrest, Search & Seizure (4 hr)
- Handling Difficult People (4 hr)
- Post Orders & Assignments (2 hr)
- Complete 8-hour refresher course annually
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Cannot begin work until Guard Card is approved OR you have BSIS approval screen-print with photo ID
