Mid Plains Catering is looking for a part-time, on-call, Catering & Event Preparation and Service person. This job is ideal for someone wanting to supplement their income or retirement. Hours are determined by event schedule. The position requires back-of-house logistical preparation and front-of-house guest interaction. While specific duties vary by event, the core goal is ensuring the event space is functional and guests receive high-quality hospitality.
Core Responsibilities

Event Preparation & Setup:

Assisting in food preparation, such as chopping ingredients, plating appetizers, or brewing coffee.

Setting up buffet lines, beverage stations, dining tables with linens, and place settings.

Reading and executing Event Preparation Sheets and floor plans to arrange tables, chairs, staging, and audiovisual equipment.
- Guest Service & Execution:

Serving food and beverages (buffet, plated, or tray-passed) while maintaining knowledge of the event menu and dietary restrictions.

Greeting and directing guests to their designated areas or seats with a professional and friendly demeanor.

Anticipating guest needs and resolving issues promptly to ensure a smooth event flow.
- Breakdown & Maintenance:

Clearing tables of used dishes and glassware during and after the meal.

Breaking down the venue by packing equipment, storing furniture, and ensuring the space is clean.

Assist in cleaning production areas, such as sanitizing countertops and washing dishes.
Key Qualifications

Availability: Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as most events occur during these times.

Physical Stamina: The role often requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift and move objects ranging from 10 to 25 lbs.

Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Certifications: Some roles require a valid food handling certificate (e.g., SERV Safe) or a driver's license if travel between venues is necessary.
