Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join our trial and litigation practice. The Of Counsel will lead and try high-stakes, complex litigation matters, provide strategic litigation counseling to clients, and mentor and supervise litigation teams. This role combines courtroom advocacy, case strategy and client development to achieve excellent outcomes in jury and bench trials and other contested proceedings.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as lead trial lawyer on complex civil litigation matters, including planning and conducting bench and jury trials.

Develop and implement case strategies, including pleadings, motions, discovery plans, and evidentiary and trial tactics.

Manage and supervise associates, paralegals, and outside counsel to ensure high-quality, timely work product and effective case staffing.

Conduct advanced legal research and prepare persuasive briefs, briefs in support of dispositive motions, oppositions, and appeals-related filings.

Lead client communications and provide clear, actionable legal advice on case posture, settlement options, and risk management.

Participate in business development and client retention activities, including pitching for new matters and maintaining client relationships.

Coordinate expert witnesses, manage complex discovery (including e-discovery), and oversee trial preparation, exhibits, and witness preparation.

Ensure adherence to ethical standards, firm policies, and jurisdictional rules; contribute to firm leadership and practice development efforts.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction(s).

Demonstrated experience serving as Of Counsel or senior litigation counsel with substantial trial experience and a track record of trying cases to verdict.

Proven background handling complex litigation matters across multiple areas of law (e.g., multi-party, multi-jurisdictional, high-value disputes).

Excellent oral advocacy, written advocacy, and trial skills, with strong courtroom poise and evidence/ADR experience.

Strong leadership and supervisory skills with experience mentoring associates and managing litigation teams.

Business development aptitude and client relationship skills, including experience with matter origination or sustaining client portfolios.

Ability to manage heavy caseloads, prioritize competing deadlines, and travel for trial as needed.

Nice-to-have: experience or familiarity with Constitutional law, environmental litigation, land use matters, class actions, public entity representation, and securities litigation.
