Active Radiator's Philadelphia, PA operation, which serves as the headquarters for our national company, is looking for an experienced MIG & TIG Welder/Fabricator to join our manufacturing team.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced welder who is comfortable working from drawings, fabricating components, and producing quality welds in a manufacturing environment.
The primary welding responsibilities for this position involve MIG and TIG welding on steel. However, our Philadelphia operation also manufactures aluminum heat exchangers, and this position may occasionally assist with Aluminum TIG welding and fabrication as production needs require.
The ideal candidate will have strong steel MIG and TIG welding experience, solid fabrication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining our quality and safety standards. Previous Aluminum TIG welding experience is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel components
- Perform Aluminum TIG welding and fabrication as needed, based on experience and production needs
- Fabricate and assemble components according to drawings and specifications
- Read and interpret drawings, measurements, and fabrication requirements
- Accurately use a tape measure and other measuring tools
- Cut, fit, position, and prepare materials for welding and assembly
- Prepare steel and aluminum components for welding and fabrication
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality and accuracy
- Assist with other fabrication and manufacturing work as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow established safety procedures and company standards
Qualifications
- MIG and TIG steel welding experience required
- Previous fabrication experience required
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and understand product assembly and fabrication processes
- Experience operating a shear and press brake preferred
- Aluminum TIG welding experience highly preferred
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to manually lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Candidates will be required to successfully complete an onsite weld test
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- MIG/TIG Steel Welding: 4 years preferred
- Fabrication: 3 years preferred
- Aluminum TIG Welding: Preferred
