Position Summary
The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for accurate clinical testing, excellent patient care, and efficient clinic flow in a fast-paced ophthalmology environment.
This role requires speed, precision, professionalism, and strong teamwork.
Technicians play a critical role in the daily success of the clinic and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete patient workups including:
- Medical history, visual acuity, refraction (if trained), tonometry, pupil and muscle testing
- Perform ordered diagnostic testing:
- OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, corneal topography, biometry, dry eye testing, and related imaging
- Ensure all testing is completed prior to physician exam to maintain clinic flow
- Accurately document findings in EMR and assist as a medical scribe when needed
- Administer topical ophthalmic medications using proper sterile technique
- Assist with patient education, follow-up instructions, and in-office procedures
- Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and properly functioning equipment
- Support efficient patient flow and a respectful, compassionate patient experience

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical office or patient care experience
- Strong computer/EMR skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic
Preferred
- Ophthalmic/optometric technician experience
- Experience with refraction or ophthalmic testing
