Volunteer Youth Mentor (Unpaid Opportunity)
Please Note: This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity designed for individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in the life of a child. It is not a paid employment position.
About the Opportunity
Could you spare just one hour a week to change a child's life?
Our Youth Mentoring Program matches caring, dependable adults with local students who could benefit from an additional positive role model. By spending time together each week, mentors help build confidence, encourage healthy relationships, and remind children that someone believes in them.
No special experience is required—just consistency, compassion, and a willingness to show up.
What You'll Do
- Meet with your assigned student approximately one hour each week during the school year.
- Participate in fun, age-appropriate activities such as playing games, talking, reading, drawing, walking, or simply spending quality time together.
- Encourage your mentee through positive conversation, active listening, and dependable support.
- Serve as a positive adult role model while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Communicate with program staff and attend required mentor training before being matched with a child.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Caring, patient, and dependable.
- Able to commit to meeting with your mentee consistently throughout the school year.
- Successfully complete a background check and mentor training.
