SPMT Operator

Are you passionate about heavy transport operations and working with specialized equipment? As an SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) Operator, you will play a critical role in safely transporting oversized and heavy loads on some of the industry's most challenging projects.
Working closely with the Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for assembling, operating, inspecting, and maintaining SPMTs while ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
What You'll Do
Equipment Operations & Project Execution
- Assemble and operate Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) for heavy transport projects.
- Execute transport activities in accordance with project plans and supervisor direction.
- Install rigging and transport equipment as specified in transport drawings and project requirements.
- Support the successful completion of heavy haul and specialized transport operations.
Inspection & Maintenance
- Perform daily and weekly inspections of SPMTs and related equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational readiness.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report equipment issues.
- Perform repairs when appropriate and escalate major concerns to supervision.
Safety & Compliance
- Participate in pre-job planning meetings and safety briefings.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Promote a strong culture of safety on every project.
Team Support
- Collaborate with supervisors, operators, and project teams to achieve operational objectives.
- Assist with training and mentoring less experienced SPMT Operators when assigned.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs).
- Experience in heavy lift operations, logistics transport, rigging
- Previous preventative maintenance or troubleshooting on heavy equipment
- NCCCO or NCCER certification (any of the following: Crane Operator, Rigger, Signal Person, Ironworker, etc.)
- Experience using precision/calibrated tools (load cells, torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, multimeters, etc.)
- Valid Driver's License required

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
