Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Leader, and/or Staff RN and in accordance with approved policies and procedures, the nursing assistant/unit clerk performs various patient care activities necessary to address the personal needs and comfort of patients. He/she participates in non-professional services including time management, organizational skills, computer skills and communication skills to ensure the smooth coordination of the nursing station. He/she acts as a resource for patients, families, physicians and hospital staff and assists in promoting and maintaining positive relations between the nursing unit and all hospital departments. He/she participates in unit activities as a team member, as assigned. The nursing assistant/unit clerk will maintain patient confidentiality and provide safe, quality patient care. He/she will maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and expertise through continuing education, in-service programs, departmental competencies and self-development activities. He/she will function as part of the multi-disciplinary team and support all staff as necessary.

Minimum:
- High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred:
- Post secondary education in health or human services
LICENSE:
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- BLS certification required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
- customer service experience, physician office or health related

Minimum:
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Computer literacy

- Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
- BLS prior to hire
