Join the West Orange Community House and Boys & Girls Club as our Preschool Director, where your leadership will help create a high-quality, thriving early childhood center that supports children, families, and staff. The Preschool Director is responsible for the overall management and daily operation of the center, including staff leadership, program quality, family relationships, enrollment, and compliance with licensing requirements. We are looking for an experienced early childhood professional who is organized, dependable, supportive of staff, and committed to providing children with a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee the daily operation of the child care center and ensure a safe, welcoming, high-quality environment.
- Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate teaching and support staff.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing professional development to staff.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and coordinate staff schedules.
- Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and Club policies.
- Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom practices.
- Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.
- Assist with enrollment, parent concerns, center events, and other administrative responsibilities.
- Maintain required records, documentation, and personnel files.
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and the well-being of children.
Qualifications:
- College degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, including supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively manage staff, address challenges, and work collaboratively with families.
- Experience with the HighScope curriculum is a plus.
- Knowledge of child care licensing requirements and early childhood program standards preferred.

The West Orange Community House and Boys & Girls Club is seeking a dedicated leader who takes pride in building a strong early childhood program and creating an environment where children can learn, staff can grow, and families feel confident in the care their children receive.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $102,000.00 per year
