Staff Software Engineer | AI/Healthcare | $180K-$240K

We're working with a fast-growing technology company in the AI and healthcare space that's looking to add a Staff Software Engineer to its growing engineering team.
This is a hands-on, full-stack role with significant technical ownership across a production platform supporting mission-critical applications and AI-driven workflows. You'll work across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, integrations, and cloud infrastructure while helping shape technical direction as the platform continues to scale.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys staying hands-on while taking ownership of architecture, complex technical decisions, and mentorship.
What You'll Do

Design, build, and scale production applications using React, Python, and FastAPI

Build responsive frontend experiences with reusable components, effective state management, and a strong focus on performance

Design and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and backend services

Build integrations with external platforms and third-party systems

Develop customer-facing features and workflows while identifying opportunities to turn them into scalable core product capabilities

Own architecture and technical direction across key areas of the application

Improve application performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability

Work across relational and NoSQL databases

Deploy and operate production applications in AWS

Build and maintain automated testing using PyTest

Partner closely with product, ML, data, and infrastructure teams

Mentor engineers and help establish engineering standards and best practices

Work directly with external customers and stakeholders to solve complex technical problems
What You Need
-
7+ years of experience building and shipping production software
-
Strong full-stack engineering background
-
Technical ownership of at least one significant production system

Strong Python experience, including FastAPI and Pydantic

3+ years of experience building production applications with React
-
Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs

Experience integrating with third-party systems and APIs

Experience working directly with external customers or stakeholders

Production experience with AWS

Experience with containerized deployments

Experience with relational and NoSQL databases

Strong automated testing experience, including PyTest

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field

Ability to work onsite in Jersey City, NJ at least 3 days per week

Experience with HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar compliance environments

Prior forward-deployed, solutions, or implementation engineering experience

Compensation & Benefits
$180,000-$240,000 base salary + equity
