Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our nursing home facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through recreational therapy and social interaction.
Duties
- Plan, organize, and implement a variety of recreational and social activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety during participation.
- Foster a supportive environment by encouraging social interaction among residents and promoting engagement in group activities.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to assess the individual needs of residents and adapt activities accordingly.
- Maintain schedule management for activities, ensuring that all events are well-coordinated and communicated effectively to staff and residents.
- Document participation and feedback from residents to help improve future programming.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, addressing any aging issues or concerns they may have.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, or working with people with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Background in recreational therapy or social work is a plus.
- Ability to manage schedules effectively while being flexible to accommodate the needs of residents.
- Compassionate approach towards caregiving and understanding of aging issues counseling.
